How Can Satan Cast Out Satan?

Some people worry that the Urantia Book was written by reptilians or Grey aliens. The book itself provides the most powerful answer to this concern, and it comes from Jesus.

HOW CAN SATAN CAST OUT SATAN?

Derek Samaras | Urantia Book Network | April 2026

Series Note: This is Part 7 of the "Revelation vs. Noise" series. This one addresses a concern that surfaces occasionally in online discussions: the theory that the Urantia Book was written by malevolent non-human entities.

The Concern

It shows up in comment sections, in Facebook groups, in late-night discussion threads. Someone asks: "What if the Urantia Book was written by reptilians?" Another responds: "I had a vision that Greys were involved in its transmission."

These are real concerns from real people. Some of them are afraid. Some of them have been taught to distrust anything that challenges their existing framework. And some of them are genuinely trying to be discerning about spiritual material in an age when discernment is desperately needed.

This article is for all of them. Not to mock anyone. To offer a line of reasoning that the book itself provides, and to let the logic do its own work.

Jesus Already Answered This

When the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub, his response was immediate and devastating:

"How can Satan cast out Satan? A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand; if a house be divided against itself, it is soon brought to desolation. Can a city withstand a siege if it is not united? If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?" (153:4.3)

The logic is elegant and airtight. If the Urantia Book were the product of malevolent forces, what exactly would those forces be accomplishing by publishing it?

Consider what the book does.

The Book Exposes the Entire Rebellion

The Urantia Book contains the most comprehensive account of the Lucifer Rebellion in any known text. It names every participant. It describes every argument. It traces every consequence.

It names Lucifer as the System Sovereign who led the insurrection (53:0.1). It names Satan as his first lieutenant who served as his personal representative (53:1.4). It names Caligastia as the Planetary Prince who betrayed Urantia (66:8.4). It names Daligastia as his associate who proclaimed Caligastia "God of Urantia and supreme over all" (67:2.4). It names Beelzebub as the leader of the apostate secondary midwayers (77:7.4).

It counts the casualties: 40,119 rebel primary midwayers out of 50,000 (77:7.1). 873 rebel secondary midwayers out of 1,984 (77:7.2). Thirty-seven worlds in the system of Satania fell to the rebellion.

It describes Lucifer's arguments in detail: that the Universal Father does not exist, that the universe is self-governing, that the administrative hierarchy is an unnecessary imposition (53:3.2-6). It then systematically demonstrates why each argument is flawed.

And it reports the outcome: Lucifer is detained. Satan is detained. The rebel midwayers are interned. The case of Gabriel vs. Lucifer has been opened before the courts of Uversa (53:9.3).

No deception operation in the history of any world publishes its own organizational chart, names its own leaders, describes its own methods, counts its own losses, and reports its own defeat. That is not how deception works. That is how exposure works.

The Book Shuts Down the Alien Visitation Framework

If the "reptilian" theory were true, the beings behind the book would be working within the alien-visitation paradigm: the idea that physical beings from other worlds can and do visit Earth. But the Urantia Book explicitly destroys that framework.

"Planetary intercommunication is denied only those worlds under spiritual quarantine." (33:6.5)

"Even if Urantia were restored to the system circuits, you would still be embarrassed by the fact that your whole system rests under a Norlatiadek quarantine partially segregating it from all other systems." (46:8.2)

The book describes a universe teeming with inhabited worlds but states that this planet is quarantined. No broadcast circuits. No interplanetary communication. No mechanism for physical beings to travel between inhabited worlds. The only surviving channel is the Thought Adjuster, which connects directly to the Father (108:4.4).

If reptilians or Greys wrote the book, why would they include the very information that rules out their own ability to be here?

The Book Removes the Power of Fear

The conspiracy theory depends on fear: the fear that malevolent beings have access to your mind, that they can deceive you, that you might unknowingly serve their agenda.

The Urantia Book addresses this fear directly:

"No fallen spirit ever did have the power to invade the minds or to harass the souls of the children of God. Neither Satan nor Caligastia could ever touch or approach the faith sons of God; faith is an effective armor against sin and iniquity. It is true: 'He who is born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one touches him not.'" (53:8.8)

And since Pentecost, the situation is even clearer:

"This traitorous Caligastia and his equally contemptible associate, Daligastia, are servile before the divine majesty of the Paradise Thought Adjusters and the protective Spirit of Truth, the spirit of Michael, which has been poured out upon all flesh." (53:8.7)

The rebels are not powerful beings running a secret operation. They are defeated administrators, stripped of authority, servile before the Thought Adjusters that indwell every moral human mind. The book systematically dismantles the fear that the conspiracy theory requires.

Why would a malevolent force publish material that removes the primary tool of its own influence: fear?

The Authorship Is Transparent

Every paper in the Urantia Book names its author. A Divine Counselor. A Life Carrier. A Melchizedek of Nebadon. A Solitary Messenger. A Midwayer Commission. Each author identifies their order, their credentials, and often their limitations.

The book does not claim to be channeled from unnamed sources. It does not claim to come from a "council of light" or a "galactic federation." It names specific orders of beings within a detailed administrative hierarchy, and those beings are consistent with the cosmology described throughout the rest of the text.

This is the opposite of how deception operates. Deception hides behind vagueness. It avoids specificity because specificity can be checked. The Urantia Book is 2,097 pages of specificity.

The Fruit Test

Jesus taught that you know a tree by its fruit (140:3.19). So ask the question: what does the Urantia Book produce in the people who read it sincerely?

Does it produce fear? The book systematically removes fear by describing a universe administered by a loving Father who indwells every human mind with a fragment of himself.

Does it produce submission to an external authority? The book explicitly warns against creating "stereotyped systems of religious beliefs" and instructs that "nothing potentially idolatrous" be left on the planet (120:3.7). It tells you to find God for yourself, in your own soul.

Does it produce dependence on the text? The book repeatedly points the reader away from itself and toward the inner spiritual experience. "True religion is a living love, a life of service" (100:6.5 paraphrase). It does not ask to be worshiped.

Does it produce isolation? The book describes a universe of trillions of inhabited worlds, all ascending together toward Paradise. It produces the opposite of isolation: cosmic citizenship.

The fruit of the Urantia Book is enhanced God-consciousness, personal spiritual growth, intellectual courage, and the willingness to love without condition. These are not the fruits of a reptilian deception operation.

What the Fear Is Really About

The people who worry about reptilians writing the Urantia Book are not foolish. They are living on a planet where the spiritual circuits have been severed, the normal celestial administration has been disrupted, and the accumulated mythology of 200,000 years of quarantine has left the human mind deeply confused about what is real and what is not.

The fear of being deceived is a healthy instinct in a world that has been deceived. The question is whether that instinct is being applied wisely.

The Urantia Book offers a comprehensive cosmology, a detailed planetary history, a 700-page account of Jesus' life written by beings who were there, and a portrait of God that is more loving, more personal, and more intellectually satisfying than anything else in print. It exposes the rebellion in unprecedented detail, removes the power of fear, and points the reader toward a direct, personal relationship with the Father.

If that is a deception, then the deceiver is working against his own interests with extraordinary thoroughness.

How can Satan cast out Satan?

He can't. And neither can reptilians write a book that names them, counts them, describes their defeat, and teaches you how to be free of them.
